1. Passover is History - It really happened -
One Evidence for Passover is that the Jews, scattered all over the world, still celebrate it every year. They have remembered it for 3400 years.
2. Passover has a focus on the death of the Lamb and having the blood of the Lamb applied to every door
Exodus 12:20-21
3. Passover has a focus on God's Promise to Deliver from bondage
4. It is important to believe the Promise
the Jews had to eat the Passover meal with shoes on their feet...Genesis 12:11...
They needed to show faith that they would be leaving Egypt that very night.
5. Passover has a focus on Freedom - and specifically Freedom to Worship God.
Moses told Pharoah - 'let My people go that they may worship ME"
6. Passover is about God's judgment on non-believers
Exodus 12:12
7. Passover has a strong emphasis on eating unleavened bread
Exodus 12:15-20
8. Passover must be remembered - God told them never to forget it - it must be celebrated every year.
Exodus 12:24
And you shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons for ever.
JESUS DIED ON PASSOVER
HE TOOK PASSOVER BREAD AND SAID "THIS IS MY BODY"
HE HAD NO SIN - HIS BODY WAS UNLEAVENED
LIKE THE AFIKOMEN - JESUS BODY DIED (BROKEN), AND HE WAS WRAPPED (IN A LINEN CLOTH FOR BURIAL), AND HIS BODY WAS HIDDEN (PUT INTO A TOMB), AND HE ROSE (JUST AS THE AFIKOMEN IS FOUND AND CELEBRATED)
BY TRUSTING IN JESUS' BLOOD, OUR SINS ARE CLEANSED AND WE ARE SET FREE TO WORSHIP GOD
WE ARE DELIVERED FROM BONDAGE BY FAITH IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THOSE COMING TO JESUS TO BE SAVED EMBRACE THE PROMISE
Jesus is the Passover Lamb - God told Moses to kill the Lamb and put it on the doorpost - God promised the Jewish slaves - "When I see the blood, I will passover you" This was all done to point to Jesus, the Lamb of God - About 1400 years after Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt, Jesus shed His blood on Passover to proclaim His plan to set us free from the bondage of sin and bring us into a new and abundant life.
The Jews until today celebrate Passover all over the world once a year. The take unleavened bread at the end of their meal and it is called "The Afikomen". They break it, hide it, and then let the children find it, and then celebrate. This all points to Jesus - the Lamb of God - He died (like the afikomen is broken), He was wrapped, (like the afikomen is wrapped), and He was buried (like the afikome is hidden), and He Rose again (like the afikomen is found), and Now we CELEBRATE, (like the celbration after the Afikomen is found) - Jesus took the unleavened bread at Passover and said, "THIS IS MY BODY"
